Virgin Cove

For two nights we stayed at the highly recommended Virgin Cove. Many people have said the place was really romantic and affordable.

We stayed in a Secluded Fale the first night, and because it was booked the following night we had to move to a standard fale.

There were a few disappointments at Virgin Cove. Friends who had stayed here previously had said that dinner and breakfast were included in the fale price. Not so when we got there. Breakfast only. And the dinner was not that great and definitely not worth what they were charging. We spent the next night eating pizza in Apia-of course Virgin Cove tried to charge me for dinner the night we were gone.

I really liked the secluded fale with it's own piece of beach heaven. The standard fales weren't that great and no beach. I think it's worth the money for the nicer place.

The road to Virgin Cove is a spine breaker and the thought of going back and forth on it not too appealing. It's quite a drive from the main road so once you get to Virgin Cove you should be ready to stay there. And you can swim and relax, but we do that so much it didn't have the appeal it might have to stressed out mainlanders.

I thought it was a beautiful place but I wasn't blown away.

The moon was almost full the night we were there and as the sunset and the moon rose I floated in the calm water. This interesting celestial phenomenon happened with a shadow shooting up into the sky. If anyone knows the scientific explanation for this let me know. I can't figure it out.

hi! we dont know each other but i found your blog when i googled samoa... i lived in western samoa (in alafua) for 6 months two years ago for school. if you get a chance, go to Lotofaga on the other side of the island... it's where my host family lives. it's a cool little town. go to matarevu beach, towards the airport. if you really have some time, you should go to Savaii and check out all the lava fields and stay at the Tanu Beach Fales in manase... it's pretty cheap, they include meal(s... i can't remember if it's both breakfast AND dinner or one of them) and the beach fales are RIGHT on the water. It's so pretty and relaxing. Not a ton to do other than to relax. if you're into hiking and blowholes and cliffs and stuff, find Warren Joplin (he's from the Safua Hotel but don't stay there... i got my wallet stolen and my friend got her camera stolen) but also does trips from Tanu. it's really cool! if you don't want to go through him, you can do it by yourself and check out Matavanu Lava Fields, Falealupo Rainforest Preserve,Taga Blowholes, Olemoe Falls and Pulemeiei Mound. anyway i like your blog, i miss Samoa! and Giordano's. and the yacht club fish burgers. and Gourmet Seafood... yum. and if you haven't had a samoan avacado... you haven't lived. i think i miss that the most! :) OH and sorry this is getting long, but if you feel like switching it up from Sydney House (does Lou still work there???) there's another coffee place down the street, there are two interet cafe's across the street from each other and one is in a little building with a few restaurants, a photo shop, and a few other things. There's a coffee shop there too, and it's run by leslie and keiran and his family runs. I can't remember what it's called though. Its in the back (if you're facing inland from the harbor, go down the street inland from the clocktower and you'll see two internet cafe's on your right, it's the second one, turn right into the building complex and the coffee shop will be on your left). oh and Treasure Garden has amazing chinese food.

Anyway, if you get a chance, check some of them out! I hope to visit again in the fall, but who knows. :)
